A whole-body perspective
Jaw tension can involve more than the jaw itself. Assessment may consider the face, head, neck, shoulders, breathing patterns and the way different areas move together.
Treatment can include external work around the jaw and surrounding muscles. When appropriate, Christine may also discuss intraoral techniques that work with structures inside the mouth.
What intraoral treatment means
Intraoral treatment is optional. Christine will explain the technique, why it may be considered and what to expect before asking for your specific consent. Gloves are used, and you can decline, pause or stop the technique at any time.
You remain in control.
Consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time decision.
Your first appointment
Your visit begins with a health history, conversation and assessment. Treatment is based on your comfort and goals; an intraoral technique is never required in order to receive care.
Jaw pain and related symptoms can have many causes. Massage therapy does not provide a medical or dental diagnosis. Seek appropriate medical or dental assessment for new, severe, persistent or concerning symptoms.
